Favourite was Campagnolo magnesium knock offs (a bit earlier than the period being talked about).
Second favourite would be the American Racing wheels for 4 bolt (these are also magnesium but they also came in aluminum alloy)

So, let's say I want some amazing 80s wheels for my 84 Toyota Pickup- is there a central marketplace for these things somewhere?

5x114.3, it's 2wd. I may try to find Starion wheels for it, they'd be perfect.
Um, what are the dimensions of those? Sort of want, although I was planning on 16x8 or 9 all around...

I had your dream and then sold them.
I 've been doing quite a bit of 1980's Corvette wheels on my BMW:
1984 Corvette Turbines 16x8.5 et32 directional, 24 lbs
16x9.5 +38 Riken 2-Piece Mesh

One wheel needs straightened which I can have done if you want them. Email me vdblyou at yahoo dot com.
WAY too much offset (and spacers are dumb) but thanks for the offer. Truck needs close to zero offset for monsters like those.

Volvo knew how to do 5-spokes. From the Virgo on the 240 Turbo:
To the Hydra on the 740/940 Turbo:
And the optional Polaris:
Original "dish" wheels.. those are my faves. Old school mesh is pretty good too. Racing Hart dish, Schmidt dish, BBS mesh, Japan market mesh, heck even the OEM mesh stuff looked good. I scored a new in box set of 90's dish wheels. Set was sitting in a local tire shop for 25 years.
I haven't gone back to look, but I bet I posted about my appreciation for Firebird GTA wheels. I now have two cars with them. Charcoal grey on my 82 Camaro, Gold ones on my 67 Camaro.
