I have. Be careful. Look at the cars in person. Extremely easy to screw yourself with one of those cars.

There is one of those in town. They wouldn't let me look without being a member. I think the laws vary state to state on who can buy from them.

Are they open to the general public now?

I needed to sign up, pay a fee, and show them my dealer's license to buy cars there.

Stay far far away!

Leave all the good deals for me:) I've bought about 15-16 cars from them. Pictures don't show everything. If possible look @ it in person. The one I bought from pic's alone cost me in the long run.

Copart is one of the largest, if not the largest, insurance salvage auction companies in the country. I've worked with them for many years. Until recently, they were for dealers (largely salvage yards, mom/pop shop people) only, and the general public wasn't allowed at all. They've started branching out recently to give limited access to the public.

You can find some great deals there, but just remember...the cars are at Copart for a reason. There are some real steals there...cars with fairly low cash value to start with that weren't hit too hard...but definitely buyer beware.
