Also, if this is for around the house and doesn't strictly-speaking need to be cordless, the HF $30 corded 1/2" impact driver is a great value. My father bought one on sale and now seldom even fires up his compressor. I've used it a few times and am impressed.

Wonder if it would run off a battery and inverter....?

I got one too from HF works ok but it's just too big, what do you think?

Not small, but for the money, and when you really need one, it's hard to beat. Proper impact extensions make it more user friendly.

I am leaning toward the big Dewalt right now, I tried one of those out that a buddy has and it felt good to me. Strong but big. I am hoping to pick one up today or tomorrow and give it a good workout at the pick-n-pull this weekend.

I've got one, too. Yeah, it is big and unwieldy, but I prefer it over starting the compressor just for some impact action. It has been particularly handy for loosening the big nuts on the crankshafts on the MGs, etc. I was using it this past weekend to do a brake job on the MGA. There is just no better way to get the rotors off the hubs that to have a substantial impact driver. I think you'd have to buy a several hundred dollar cordless to match the performance of this $50 unit. It ain't elegant, but it works.

I've also got the hf corded- I dig it too. Got it for $27 with the coupon.

snap on... ya its expensive. but i used mine for 1.5 years professionally almost using it exclusive over my air impact. ya they say only 360 ft lbs... but i gotta be honest. its broken things free that my old ingersol 1/2 inch composite air wouldnt. ive only had to pull out the air for hard to budge bolts when u absolutly need 1000 ft lbs.
