that's new to me, fake cross-drilled disc covers for real, presumably solid, discs.

I have driven a stock one of those, and IMO more power is one of the last things it needs. More steering feel would be very high on the list though.

Front and back. Those are just metal disks that are sandwiched between the rim and the real rotor to simulate big brakes. Why would you do that with that much awesome going on?

It's pretty easy to change the steering feel on a lot of GM cars. The steering boxes (the recirculating ball ones) are interchangeable on a lot of models. There's a valve in the box that can replaced, too. Just use a Firebird/Camaro box or valve and it will feel better. I'll bet it's not that hard to alter the front suspension geometry a little, too.

The covers are probably just to "look cool" but I bet they keep a lot of dust off the wheels.

just find a police car or taxi cab Caprice for good suspension goodies. it should be easy, since most Caprices were cop cars or taxi cabs by then.. the steering box on them is about 3 turns lock to lock and the springs and sway bars are beefier. everything will bolt right in and be super cheap. might want to keep the wagon springs in the back, tho.

one of the guys in my local club tows his K20 swapped EG hatch HPDE/autoX beater with one of those. except his has a 6 speed manual swapped into it and nothing else done to it, and on the autocross course it feels vaguely like what I'm guessing driving a trophy truck must be like. it will also seat 6 if you count the rearward facing seats in the "trunk", which do have belts. 6 people in a war wagon on an autoX course... terrifying but fun

oh, and proof, albeit not from the 6-people-in-the-car run:

EDIT: that isn't me driving, I'm not quite brave enough to drive that beast, assuming the owner would let me. it was legit nearly as scary as the supercharged SN95 Mustang that was on street tires that the guy also drove, and that thing was terrifying

remember, also, that the wagons are a good 700 pounds heavier.. and springs are easy to chop..

i've had 2 9C1 Caprices of that body style- a 92 and a 94. the 92 sat a good 3" higher than the 94. i actually parked the 94 next to an Impala SS once and it had the same ride height. that car was a former CHP (California Highway Patrol) car- it had a sticker in the doorjam that said so- and i'm thinking the CHP swapped in Impala springs to make it handle better during high speed chases or something. so maybe look for CHP Caprices for suspension parts donors..
