Phew! For a minute there I thought you might have found a RWD turbo Impulse. Not sure I would have had the willpower to resist one of those.
EDIT: just saw the threefer. Thankfully too far.
I've always wanted any one of the three, really; I-Mark RS, AWD Impulse RS, and the RWD Impulse turbo have been on "the list" as long as I can remember. None left in the rust belt, though.

Little known fact: The Lotus Elan M100 has an Isuzu engine.

I did know that, but on another note, that is quite possibly the worst Craigslist ad I have ever seen - but not for the usual reasons that make them terrible...

2 Impulse turbo AWDs for $2,700

I have had two of these both as a race car and E36 M3box commuter car. Mine were the 1.8 liter FWD non turbo variety. Very fun cars with decent power, but I am not sure that hanging a turbo off the motor, and adding four hundred pounds of complexity really improved them. For what its worth, the race car was a dud. Floppy as a wet noodle and prone to swapping ends at inopportune times. Never got it to reach its potential and could not keep the bottom end together thanks to poor oil system design. And parts became impossible to find. Can't imagine trying to keep one on the road nowadays.

That 89 looks incredible! Love the pic next to the Ferrari!
The blue impulse in the Atlanta craigslist ad is my old car. Only gone 500 miles or so since I sold it. Loved that car.............

What does/can one do with one of these? Is the motor/trans/rear end strong? Any aftermarket to speak of? Will the motor make power?
The RWD Impulse was basically a seriously hot rodded (and much better looking) Chevette. I've sometimes wanted to either swap an LS6 into one, or a turbo Ecotec. They have a live axle rear suspension, so finding something else the same width shouldn't be too hard.
I have an obsession with old E36 M3ty SOHC Japanese Turbo motors, so i'd probably be more interested in working with what it came with.
I'm somewhat considering selling off some of my spare "to-be-installed" parts for the turbo Miata to go pick this up. Looks like it would be a seriously cool daily driver, and if i could get it in the 2700lb range and 250-300whp area fairly easily, i'd be super interested.
Hmm, that 3 for 1 deal is awfully tempting to me. They are only 2 hrs away...
Cool little cars. Funny that anyone I've ever met that had one had at least 2.

The car that made me swear off piston engines for about a decade.
Really, it's a Chevette with bad electronics and an awful engine. Mind you, I WOULD like to have a Chevette someday.

I put a decent amount of research in these cars when I was looking for an 80s Japanese turbo.
Engine is good, trans breaks with more power, chevette chassis, dead aftermarket.
There is a 2.6l engine that bolts in. There is a stronger transmission as well that you can put in. Both IIRC come from the Isuzu Trooper and the combo is supposed to be massively awesome.
Also as with a lot of imports like this Australian forums have the best info. It's called the Piazza there so look that up.
edit: in fact heres a trans swap thread:
http://www.isuzupiazza.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1752
heres a restoration thread on another site where he puts in a 2.6l and that trans. It seems easy.
