02 cavalier 2.2 ohv - the wife's appliance

crank sensor is in bad location and the long craftsman prydriver snapped it off in the block. there is a nub in the center i can get needle nose vise grips on. i scraped all the rust out of the hole with a pick and have it soaking in pb blaster overnight to hopefully free up the o-ring.

any words of advice besides "sucks to be you"?

have to pull the intake manifold off to get room to rewire the cam position sensor since mice at the wires, so i will have room to get in there.

sucks to be you

but i am reminded of the time i broke a spark plug off in the head of my f150, and had to get it removed by a shop, and how much that sucked. i'd go with drilling a small pilot hole if you can, followed by the aforementioned self tapping screw, then vicegrips to pull the pieces out

yeah - self tapper - i recommended that to someone in the past and forgot about that one. once i get the intake off i'll have room to get the right angle drill in there. going to give it a go in a minute without pulling anything else to see if it freed up overnight.

At least its not a V6. On those, it often simpler to drop the oil pan and push it out. Access on them is limited, to say the least.

what a colossal pain in the ass.

i have the intake off. took me 3 hours to get the sensor out. 3 broken drill bits, 2 broken screws, 2 broken hooks, and i had to pull it out in pieces and to get the end out had to custom break a round file into a short stick to clean the hole up to get the end to slide out.

back hurts like hell, still have to go out and put it together.

she took my p71 to work today and called a few minutes after leaving saying it was running rough and the SES light was flashing- stupid pos ford. at least i can blame the cavalier SES on a mouse eating wires, the p71's problem is it is a ford.

I suggest getting out the metric heat wrench and removing 6"x6" pieces of the car until your recycling bin is full, repeat untill all of the offensive hulk has been disposed of.

done, running nice.

the ford - wouldnt take much to cut it up - if i hit it with a hammer chunks fall off already. i should have kept the coils off my parts car but in the "need this gone right now" rush i left them on when i scrapped it.
