Volkswagen Jetta, BTW. Too many people in my family, including me, drive these E36 M3cans. My 2003 parts car is basically picked over and gutted, yet I can't often seem to bring myself to junk a car. So I'm asking you to help me brainstorm: what can be done with this shell using only a plasma cutter, MIG welder, basically no money and some other worthless junk? My first thought is to skin it over an old, no longer competitive circle-track tube chassis, but they're heavy

smyth style ute mod + 1.8l turbo motor + manual trans + manual boost control turned all the way up.
should be fast and sweet and well within challenge budget.

Saw this done with a Triumph Spitfire nose, looked pretty good.

I have this crazy daydream about de-computerizing the whole car and putting in a carbureted 1982 power train. Here in Massachusetts, there's a fifteen year rolling emissions exemption, so in January 2018, it won't need to pass any OBD checks, so maybe I should go all 1982 on it, but put in a turbo diesel instead. I'm not sure if this is my craziest idea or just the dumbest one, yet.

This, Please do this and make a thread to accompany it
I vote rear engine and transaxle from a v8 audi.
I vote truck ute AND the said mid engine Audi transaxle. I'm not EVER going to be a Farfignuegen fan, but damn do I love that ute Jetta wagon. And a 1uzfe on the Audi trans would be bulletproof and sound killer. Like an upscale version of the mazdarati.
Something Duorocco inspired?
Use an Audi TT or SEAT Leon front clip?
Cut floor pan from body, turn body 180 degrees and weld back on to produce a Jetta version of the Back Up Truck?
Parody the VW excessive camber trend by putting a second set of wheels on the outside, mounted horizontally and about 1" off the ground? If the car has excessive rust, that would actually be a plus on this theme.
