...that I truly don't have the skills to build:
For less than a grand, all-in, I've saddled myself with a 1998 VW CABRIO and a salvage-titled Audi S4 (B5). My wacky idea is to cut the rear floor out of the Cabrio and weld in the S4 front subframe in its stead, creating a mid engine twin turbo V6 Cabrio. Does anyone want in on this? I'm hoping someone more skillful jumps in before I destroy two running cars that I could otherwise sell.
We should chat this sounds fun
I can think of at least one build like that on here already. There was the durroco a few years ago. It sounds like it would be a fun car when finished.

In reply to rustyvw:
I'm thinking that the end result would be sort of an F40 Cabrio. Bonus points if I can get it to shoot flames from the tailpipes on the overrun
I'm waiting for the crazy idea??? Other than that I think it is overly complex for the lack of performance benefit.

Naaa just add more boost.

Was just gonna say, this is a perfect opportunity to build a dual-powertrain monster like ansonivan's Durocco.
Or in other words, the plan isn't crazy enough
Edit: Building a dual-powertrain car with two different geared drivetrains would be very complicated though. Usually either there are identical drivetrains in the front and rear (like the Durocco) or one of the powertrains is single-speed electric (like Nashco's hybrid Fiero and many new high-end sports cars and supercars).
Anyone else remember the Little Lamb-orghini?

So here's what I've learned, so far, from posting this: any time I buy a mess of an S4, I should mention it here. Without deliberately trying, I've already sold the engine, seats, wheels and bumpers. I had no idea anyone wanted any of that and would never have thought to part that car out or to advertise it here. I think I'll still go through with the midengine Cabrio idea, despite not having the S4 engine anymore. I'm thinking a B5 Passat front subframe with an Audi V8 bolted to a Boxster S 6spd. What I really need the most help with is the unibody modification to make it work. Should I have a half-cage/tubular rear structure made and welded in to accept the rear-transplanted front subframe (which would probably decimate the Challenge budget) or can the subframe just be welded in where the hole in the rear floor is cut? Is there a third option?

Reading the title I thought "you'll shoot your eye kid"
