This should work - Kelmark Sleeper kit from the 70s-80s

There was a mid-engineering frame for sale on Kelmark forum for a long time, just looked it up, sold in Sept. If you decide to go this root, I have seen them every so often on craigslist, used Adhuntr to search all craigslists and not just the local, never seen one local to me.

I had been following this build thread for a while now - Satan's "Lady Bug"

check out his pics, pages 2-5 of his photo library. i bought the transmission in my impala from him and saw/heard the car pre turbo install when i picked it up.
I'm surprised noone has mentioned the Bugster yet. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1973-volkswagen-bugster/ Beetle + Boxster.

That thing is pretty awesome, but way more money than I'm willing to throw at this.

I, and others will be waiting and great full for the info.
Steve The enabler.
Honestly I'm surprised that more people don't build hot VWs. Their Body-off-frame is perfect for building a tube chassis, and they're very light. I guess that in a lot of the country it's hard to find one that isn't all rusty, but they're such fertile ground for serious builds.
