Nissan sold 21,000 Cubes in 2009, 23,000 in 2010, and in October of this year it sold 198. In other words, sales look like they are down to only 10% of last year.

I guess that's what happens when you hit the market with a quirky vehicle the same time it reaches saturation in that segment?

Nissan has not said they are discontinuing the Cube any time soon.

i get all those boxy little novelty cars confused- is that the one that has the weird window on the one side that wraps around the back?

According to my buddies at the Nissan dealership I used to work at, they are stopping the Cube. Still making it in other markets, just not here. I say good riddance to bad rubbish!

If they came with a manual, I would consider one. I like the dr suess look.

They'll find something that sells, even if they use the shotgun approach

Sorta looks like something designed in the 60's. Throw some chrome wheels on it, spray some metal flake paint on it and just roll.

I think they sold most of those Cubes here. Older folks seem to gravitate to them. I think it's the whole upright and easy to get into idea.

I sat in one at the Nissan dealer - fugly on the outside but quite roomy and comfortable on the inside.

I agree about the old people easily getting in and out of it. My Chevrolet Venture minivan had the same comfort.

My mom and dad just bought a Soul.

I like the boxes. They're too small to load my bikes in, but otherwise practical. Must be 5 spd., though.

shrug. I would consider one if I had more need for utility. They are CHEAP new.

I guess people finally stepped back, looked at them and realised that they look terrible.

Hamsters killed the Cube, plain and simple.

I think therein lies the answer. The Cube is out-marketed by the competition. We know the hamsters but how is the Cube marketed?

They are available with a 6 speed manual.

$14K brand new. 31 mpg. That a lot of utility for a very low price.

I wonder if I could get a Sneetches Edition, or a Lorax embroidered into the headrest...

I've said it before and I will say it again. With its flashing lighted speakers, absurdly oversized yet not complimentary shaped tail lights and raised panel rear hatch the Soul seems like it is trying to hard. Like a grandma rapping or something.

The cube is just honestly quirky. No hamsters needed. Even with the asymettrical window it seems less over the top than the Kia.

The teenagers volunteers in my lab love the hamster ads. Nissan wants kids to grow up thinking it is fun/cool.

They are "supposed to be" available with a manual transmission, but just try to find one. Searching the 5 or 6 dealers within an hour of Jacksonville turns up about 10 or 12 Cubes...all with that not so great CVT.
