I need a larger coolant expansion tank for the challenge car. I also don't have too much room for one, so I suspect it will need to be custom. Also trying to do it on the cheap, naturally as it is for the challenge build. I have a MIG welder, and I'm getting more competent with it, but don't have aluminum capabilities.

Ideas.....? and go!

My first idea was to find a suitability sized fire extinguisher and weld a radiator cap piece to the top.

Something along these lines, though this is an overflow more than an expansion tank.

On my 1uzfe swap, the engine normally has an expansion. But there “whas no whey”.

So I relocated, and reused my factory overfloweth tank. Reduce, reuse, recycle. The hippy way.

Fyi- I’m at the bottom of a Spanish coffee, so... yeah.

I've been saving a 1.75 L Jack Daniel's bottle for a coolant overflow bottle for years, but you really wanna be careful using glass since thermal shock can crack it easily. So go with Patrick's suggestion- tape measure and a junk yard. Allegedly Ford Powerstroke coolant overflow tanks are stout and made of real thick plastic.
