Hey guys,

There is a nice looking Rocky on eBay now,and I was wondering if these are good vehicles. I imagine they are similar to a Samurai/Tracker,and are reliable as most any Japanese vehicle from the era. Can you get parts for these trucks still?

Drove one around St Maarten, neat little truck but a bit underpowered. High wear parts like sparkplugs, brake pads etc should be pretty easy to find, trim stuff is going to be a different story.

I don't know. Are they total E36 M3 boxes,or are they decent vehicles that are reliable?

Daihatsu makes lots of commercial trucks and utility vehicles, so I would trust them to make a simple little SUV. I am sure it is underpowered and rough, but I bet it will run forever with nothing more than a leatherman and some duct tape. Luxury sedan? No. Mini SUV? Sure.

Let's see...

Rockys were imported to the U.S. for a short period, what? 20 years ago. Diahatsu doesn't have any dealers in the U.S. and hasn't had any for 20 years. They are a subsidiary of Toyota and their vehicles are still sold in other countries (is Canada one of them?). Hmmm. Tough call.

Easy call.

The more obscure a vehicle, the better.

With the exception of a La Forza, the Rocky is one of my favorite SUVs.

I know jack about these trucklets aside from what Wiki sez. I guess they are very choked up from the factory and a freer-flowing intake helps quite a bit. Sounds like it would make a fun little off-roader.

Check this out, I found a forum! http://www.warfs.org/

I used to have that opinion when it came to buying a car, but when I get tired of a car (used to happen A LOT when I was younger) it can be difficult to sell a vehicle that most folks have never seen before.

If you can find the small, normal maintenance parts (spark plugs, oil and air filter, and brake pads, for instance) at your local auto parts store, or if you don't mind doing your parts shopping off the internet, then a Rocky might be a good vehicle for you.
