So, i need to make a dash for the challenge car.

It needs to be light. And cheap. And easy to work with.

Ive got some scrap sheetmetal that i can rivet together to make a big enough piece, but that may be ugly.

Why would chloroplast or luan be a bad idea? Safety is paramount concern here.

So, ideas?

Sheetmetal will make the car's interior look like a WW2 fighter plane, for better or worse.

Coroplast is easy on your face and can look more production-ish if you hide the edges, but it does melt.

Luan's hard and flammable and will make the car's interior look like a WW1 fighter plane, for better or worse.

I've always thought some kind of fabric or hide stretched over a skeleton of thin sheet metal would be a good way to make a DIY dash...put it together with zippers, and you can just unzip for easy maintenance!

make a metal or wood skeleton and then lay some fiberglass cloth and then resin it. that should be all you need.
