Anybody here interested in data acquisition? If so, what brand do you use?

I've used RLC and loved it, and I've used Race Technology and hated it.

I went with traqmate. Disappointed in the video setup. The first camera I bought from their Amazon store was "wrong" and should not have been listed. I had to purchase a 2nd camera to work reliably. They advertise HD video, but that's not entirely true. You can mate HD with the data on your computer, you just can't save or upload it that way. If you use a Sony camera, you have to purchase additional software to convert the video to something less than HD, overlay the data to that, and then save that file. The data quality is good. I only use a small portion of the inputs, and have been happy with the results.

I had traumata and could never get the video to work right. I had the sony camera. Sold it. Just bought a DD2 Pro from Chet at Galek motorsports. Software is real easy to set up and video seems straightforward although I won't get to use it in competition until the fall. Price was less than half that of AIM or RacePak, the others I considered. What made me go for this was the ease of the software. It is very straightforward and provided everything you would need in the base package. There are additional sensors but 99% of us will not need them. The units are made of aluminum and seem very high quality. Easy install too. I am not associated with Galek, just a happy customer!

So, is the video an important aspect for your review?

AIM Solo DL. I'm having a good time with it. I think it would be easier to follow conventional wisdom with the analysis if I was driving actual tracks. Or if I was a more consistent driver. Getting 4-6 runs on a course that changes every time is a bit confusing. Add that to the fact that I'm not any where consistent and it's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. I've got an event this weekend and one next weekend and after that I'll have four events on the same surface. I'm hoping I can start to pull some useful info from that.
