Can we get this flounder out of here please?

Speaking of which, when I see Kia, I always thing KIA, as in Killed In Action, which is unfortunate.
That is ok. Years ago my son and I come up behind a Ford Super Duty pick up. All of a sudden he is busting a gut laughing and pointing and laughing. He can hardly speak he is laughing so hard.
I will never look at a Ford Super E36 M3 the same way again.

I really like the wheels on the TRD Pro. Especially in bronze

It’s impossible to discuss the purchase of a commodity without considering the bigger picture of the reason that some people are in a position to purchase said commodity and some are not. Life is unfair, but it’s more unfair to some than others. I’m happy that many of us are in a position to afford a new vehicle, that’s not the issue. The issue of getting a straight answer from Toyota was difficult and that seems intentionally misleading. One shouldn’t have to seek out a very niche automotive forum and stumble upon another member who happens to know the information that the manufacturer should’ve been up front about in the first place. This is just one area that’s illustrative of the greed that’s pervasive in so many industries.
Whats your take on food manufacturers for promoting things like "natural flavors," "0g transfat," & "HEALTHY."
[slowly stepping away before the rest of you pummel me]
Anyways, congrats Brett on your purchase. That thing looks awesome!

That's an interesting parallel so I wanted to give it some thought before I responded. It seems to me that food manufacturers do everything in their power to market their product as healthy and good for you, but also tasty, too. "Natural flavor" literally has no meaning and 0g trans fat is great, but not at the expense of 1000g of saturated fat. Manufacturers have also been guilty of stating things like "only 2g of sugar!" while failing to be up front about the fact that the rest of the sweetness is made of aspartame and sucralose. The biggest difference to me is that there's been some pretty strong legislation about food marketing and how manufacturers have to label their goods. The U.S. was one of the first countries to enact mandatory food labeling in 1913 which has been revised every couple of decades to ensure that consumers get up-to-date information about what they're putting in their bodies. Does this mean that people still don't eat like E36M3? Of course not and I love my fast food as much as the next person, but at least the information is available, clear, and accessible.
It's unfortunate that bringing up the social impacts of our hobby is tantamount to spam. We cry out for more minorities, women, and young folks to get involved in a hobby that is predominately middle-aged white men, but nobody wants to discuss the barriers to entry. Our hobby is dying largely because of its expense, but also because of the availability and egalitarianism of other hobbies (like video games, social media, etc.). Everything that's brought up in this thread was not designed to denigrate anyone, but to try and shift our awareness in to the preservation of our interest that's being eroded by the growing rift between corporations and the people.

I mean, I hear you, but you're not going to change any minds arguing on a cheap racecar forum in a thread about Toyota trucks. Everyone is already aware of the broader implications of all of this stuff. Either we care or we don't care. Either way, we like cheap race cars and associated stuff and like being friendly.
I like that green tacoma.. Once kids leave the house.. I'm in another one.. I miss my old 1986 hilux.
In reply to Dave M (Forum Supporter) :
I understand that and I'm not really trying to change minds. I think it's important to be vocal about this stuff even if it doesn't land. Eventually, the collective noise will leak into the larger lexicon and we've done our part to support it.
The reason why new vehicles, especially new trucks SUVs cost so much is because we the consumer have made them luxury vehicles. We want all leather, heated and cooled seats, pre-runner suspension et al. Those things cost more
When the 4Runner came out they ran upwards of 15-16K which is about 38K now, the loaded 4Runner of that era was well below the current base model when it comes to amenities.
This isn't a case of Toyota being misleading, it's a case of their website sucking. The current trend is flashy overcomplicated sites, they are annoying. It's also a case of their customer service giving generic canned replies..............this too is annoying.
My brother just purchased this turd.
This one will be taken off road, at least once some of the newness wears off.
Looking forward to some adventures with him.
I like it on paper but I'm not a fan of the interior, doesn't seem to be a cohesiveness, too many large buttons/knobs, hard edges that stick out as if added after the fact. Probably going for the utilitarian look on purpose.
My 99 xj is cleaner inside and so is my '15 grand cherokee.
I'll stay way from the other subject theme...
These things are UGLY. I would rather spend 40K restormodding my Cherokee YJ, or finding a mint condition Blazer K5 and spending even more money on it, or maybe a 70's vintage Ford Bronco, or anything made by Hummer or Land Rover.
Why are these things so UGLY?
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine :
that’s fair but I’ve been kicked out of parties before for espousing views that are unpopular. So...kick away I suppose.

Were any trim levels on the 4Runner excluded from the special financing
All of them :). No special financing only a $1500 rebate on 4runners.
