Technically, it's "no matter where you go, there you are."
Buckaroo Banzai feels like the second movie in a trilogy. Like there are established norms and jokes you'd understand because of the first movie. Except there's only one movie.
Imagine if you watched Back to the Future part II. You'd pick up on the plot. You'd understand the gist, but somethings would go over your head. Like only Biff being able to start Biffs car.
But, I seriously love Buckaroo. It's just too weird not to.
"What's with the watermelon?"
"I'll tell you about it later..."
He never does.

All I need of Earth Girls are Easy is the scene where she's sunbathing by the pool when the spaceship lands...

Buckaroo is awesome. We watched it recently and, yep, it’s still awesome.
“It drives like a truck.”
”Good. What’s a truck?”

You should read the books: it explains more, and the sequel carries right on with more craziness.
It was a Ford Ranger, I believe, not an F150. I need to watch it again to confirm. We all do.
I'll throw out "Spies Like Us" and "Top Secret"
or "Money Pit" and "War Of The Roses"
I just watched "King of the Mountain" the other day. It fits well into the "Terrible movie with cool car spotting" genre, so I'd probably pair it with the original "Gone in Sixty Seconds".
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
If you want to pair it with another bad car movie with Dennis Hopper, you could go with the TV movie "The Last Ride"
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
Saw King of The Mountain as well.
Man I watch a lot of crappy movies.

Oh wow, Earth Girls Are Easy. I remember watching that as a kid!
IIRC that was one of Jim Carrey's first movies, if not THE first.

I knew I wasn't nuts. (And yes, I did know it was in Buckaroo Banzai, which why I remember it being in this movie too)
