We've been posting lots about our Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge, and it's true that it will have some of the fastest cars and drivers in the country in attendance.
There's one thing I feel the need to repeat for our forum, though: Literally any car is eligible. Seriously--if it passes a NASA HPDE safety inspection, it's legal to take it out on track for the UTCC. No cage, fire suit, etc. is required.
"But don't I have to apply and be accepted?" Yes, you do (and you can enter your car in the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge here). But we're not just looking for fast cars: We're looking for good stories. If you don't have 400 horsepower but do have a compelling story, we'd love to have you as a part of the event.
We're now three weeks away, and I'm hoping to see at least a few of you at VIR May 13 and 14!
Keith was suggesting his Cadillac for OLOA, maybe you need to get it for UTCC as well? :)
I don't think that 29th in the challenge will make the cut.
I'm excited to participate. My humble entry...

I'm now tempted to run my stock 1.6L NA Miata, just 15 inch Kosies, ECS tires, Hawk HP pads, and a roll bar...would establish a common track car as a benchmark I guess? Already signed up for HPDE so hmmm.... what's the slowest lap win?

I've been telling myself I'm not going to pay any attention to posts like this anymore, and yet this is sticking in my mind all day... thank a lot, Tom!
I've got a stock 300ZXTT that could be an interesting benchmark of what used to define performance. A Japanese halo car of yesteryear virtually tied with the corvette of its time that has a similar power to weight ratio of a current gr corolla. Most importantly, it photographs really well hits the right market demographics.
Stop tempting me, VIR is so close...
All the car on the One Lap waiting list should be heading to VIR!
