just wanted to show off my grassroots magnetic numbahs:
$4.50 worth of magnetic heater vent covers, a pair of scissors and 15 minutes later, and I am good to go. now that is grassroots numbahs.
(they are smoother than the pic looks... camera warped them a little.. bad angle I guess)
Oh, wow.
I was getting magnetic crap from the craft store. It seems a whole lot cheaper to do it your way.
Thanks!

what is a heater vent cover? This must be some kind of thing for where people use heaters.
Lookin' good. Got a link to where you found the material?
There must be some significant regional differences. Autocrossing around here has you assigned a number that almost always reflects the order in which you registered for the event.
They look great. That should allow for ample combinations.
Now, try to keep the back sides as clean as possible. Also, before applying to the car, wash the area of the car with spray bottle of water and a towel or even windex and a paper towel. Apply the magnets straight onto the car, that is, do not adjust them by sliding them.
The little dirt that is on the back of the magnet and the little dirt on the car can make a scratching to the car's finish if the surfaces are not clean.

well, this weekend (first central Pa Region autocross) will be the test to see if they are strong enough of a magnetic material.

watch out.. Lowes also has them but they $4.85, vs Home Depot's $4.50 (well, at least that is what a web search told me, before I went out to get them. why pay an extra 35 cents?)

Home Depot's a better company to support, too. Well, at least based on one polarizing political issue that I won't go into here.

Nah, everybody I've run with in the Midatlantic region lets you pick numbers on a first-come, first-served basis, at least for the first event of the season. Most places with regular attendees will lock out the regulars' numbers from being taken by casual attendees or noobs.

They are. I've been using them for years.
Here's from last weekend. They stuck in mid 30's and 25mph winds. http://germantaborphoto.smugmug.com/AutoXGrissom41413/Group-01/3STF/28918755_NWBfBs

There's nothing wrong with discussing the polarizing issue of "which is better, orange logo or blue logo"

In like the color blue more.... But when it comes down to it, I like spending less.... More.
