I thought this was the DIY Hummer Urban Gorillas
They did one on Xtreme 4X4 on spike, IIRC.
Gameboy: You mean like the ones from urban gorillas that you bolt onto the frame of a suburban or the like. Their bodies are a mix of 14 gauge steel and fiberglass.
ok, once I scrounge up $5K I'll let you know,
I keed, I keed... or do I? Surefire way to "Upset" the future inlaws
I know of 1/2 a dozen guys who did build a hummer. The tough part is getting the body so this auction has the hardest part done. But the guys who have done it say you can do it as cheap as 10-12 grand with the 6.2 or one guy has 25 wrapped up in one but it as the duramax and allison combo.

Not all HMMWV's had armour. The 2000lbs of armor was a costly upgrade, and it was only really protected from 5.56 and 7.62 rounds. I remember hearing about communities around the country funding armor upgrades for their soldiers. You can tell if they are M1114's because they don't have zip up windows.
