Daughters friend had what turned out to be a 1963 MG Midget he was going to scrap. I looked at it and told him it's not a complete car, give you $50 for it. He held out his hand and said yours. The not complete 1098 engine was sitting where the passenger seat is supposed to go. Both seats missing and some gawd awful button pleated interior. 2 rust spots in the floor, 1 in the passenger footwell about the size of a 1/2 dollar coin & 1 under where the drivers seat should go about the size of a quarter. Outer rockers about 6 inches are rusty and missing windshield glass. Came with the bows for the top and side curtain frames. Some PO painted it to look like a 71 Midget, even changed the grill and removed the chrome strips that MK1 Midgets had and installed a 1 year only (71) British Leyland fender tags and the chrome MIDGET letters that later ones had. Bastard car. Was used a prop in a extremely low budget movie that was never released, some apocolyptic futuristic plot. Engine removed and drivers door hinge cut to remove the door (have the door) and hood removed (have it) and a fire set in the engine compartment. Took a while with a pressure washer to remove all the fire extinguishing agent in the engine compartment. Obtained a extremely rusty 72 Midget for parts, mainly drivetrain. Thats the only good thing on the car. Going to use the 1275 and ribcase from it, thinking about rear end for better gear ratio and front spindles to get slightly bigger brakes. Got some original seats and a couple of the correct grilles that I should be able to piece into one grill. Goal is for it to look somewhat close to original with a newer MG drivetrain slightly hopped up so it will keep up with modern traffic. Basically a good driver with accepted MG upgrades. Has what looks to be a modification kit on the steering wheel to make it slightly smaller, never seen one like it and no one seems to know anything about it. Not going to be concours as I want to keep costs down so I won't lose to much when I sell it to get something else.
