If so, please send me a PM. I have a question for you. (And I'm fine with a first- or second-gen Scirocco owner.)
Thanks.

A friend of mine has been receiving quite a bit of abuse from me recently about getting his out again next summer. He has owned a Scirroco ever since I met him in the early 80's, his current one is pretty nice, but has been parked for a decade or so. You could do an article on getting a K-jetronic car running after a decade of sitting...
I am a huge fan of them, most of my knowledge is 20 years old back to when I was 16 and had an A1 Rabbit and Scirocco parts were the hot upgrades.
I don't know anything about them other than the fact that the first gen is gorgeous. I've always had a thing for them.
You asked for fans, not experts.

Easiest way I know of to get a K-Jet car running after a decade of sitting is to find someone who sells a carb conversion kit for it... ;P
I road race a MK II in IT. Here's a link to some pics: https://www.flickr.com/photos/99430171@N06/sets/72157665640485789/with/24179492988/
It's the white one, car #80.
I've owned it since 2006, bought it from my nephew who owned it for about 5 years pryor. I have figured out CIS-E enough so that it runs quite well.
It also handles. I run laps times equal to the average SM preped Miata.
I went to a VW service school when the Scirocco/Rabbit was being introduced in the US.
I always lusted for a gen 1 but family came first. I did get to drive a few.
Never cared for the later versions.
That's all I have.

Step 1: Remove CIS
Step 2: install MegaSquirt EFI
Step 3: Enjoy

Dual Weber 40s FTW!
My suggestion involved one of those turbo five valve hot rod Golf motors from a decade or more ago. A 336? I had another friend with a 300 horse tuned GTI version. I figure that in a 2000 lb Scirrocco would be hilarious.
My first real girlfriend drove a manual Scirocco and her dad was a local VW salesman.
Big help, I know.

No need. Yogi (who owns the car) and I are both pushing 60, and we were active when k-jet was the norm. I still like the way they run compared to the LH versions. Just have to keep the fuel clean, and drive the snot out of them.
Scirocco nut jason cammisa was on last week's grm live :P
I had an 84, but wish I had one in better condition, would like another

My way is quicker, but this works too. :P
The same folks who are incapable of getting CIS running are likely the same ones who will struggle with a pair of finicky carbs that are often used and mismatched since many aren’t willing to buy new.
Look at the mess people make of adjustable suspension....

This possibly more true than you know.
