Why not get paid to do it while getting paid to be at some of the best sportscar racing in North America

ISMA wants you to be a race official. (and swmbo said being a trackrat would never pay!)

Not sure, but doing an HPDE event at a track before working a race there becomes pre event research and tax deductible.

Pace car driver was in the description. That would be cool but also could be very boring.

The person who normally drives the pace car is the person who doesn't ask to and has the most radio experience

I flag at PDXs for WDCRSCCA. They give you a free track day if you volunteer three times. It's like getting paid $80/day, but no taxes.

That's interesting as I've worked 7 IMSA races in the last few years and the only one I know that is paid is race control, stewards, and scrutineers. I know PCA and BMWCA pay the best. Typically $100-$110 a day. Track day clubs are about $80-$100 a day. Nascar is $50 a day. PWC, WEC, F1, MotoGP and IMSA are all volunteer for F&C locally. I mean you get a shirt, food, and usually a hat and some other things but nothing of substance. I have a closet full of COTA hats and F1 shirts.

We hire a group called the PA Posse to flag our Pocono events. We control pit in / out, they man the work stations. Good group of people.

Dang. That's better than I used to get from a 6 hour valet shift, but it's nearly twice as long, a haul to get there & back, and a long time in the bugs and the heat. Still, it seems like you would learn a lot doing it. If something's going wrong for me on track, I can usually get advice from the corner worker in that section on how to fix it.

Yeah, The money isn't great if you have to travel but if the track is local, you can make a little bit of extra spending money. I know the college kids love it in college station.

How do you get some of the nation's top 410 sprint car drivers (who drive at and dominate Pennsylvania's dirt ovals) to flag at your events?

You'll need to log in to post.
