I miss my camaro, 86 IROC, built heads, port matched TPI, upper manifold ported heavily, air foil, adjustable fpr, cam, gears, shift kit with upgraded trans internals, 2400rpm stall converter, rear disks, racing pads all the way around, hotchkis springs and sways, shorty headers, emissions stuff deleted, edlebrock y pipe, gutted cat, flowmaster 3inch catback, stereo that could make your ears bleed, corbeau drivers seat. 28mpg on the interstate, was clocked at 140mph in it.
Found out a few years later the kid that ended up with it (his grandfather bought it.from me) trashed the 305 for a 350/350 setup, and a generic dual exhaust setup.

I miss my Mk2 G60 swapped GTI. I also miss my '93 Corrado SLC although that car tried its best to bankrupt me. Finally I miss my first Porsche 944 Turbo S...
For some odd reason I miss my old car... Damn thing was just a 90 cavalier... but I had an 87 Z24 front clip on it.. HO 2.3L Quad 4 in it... lowered, bunch of supension stuff on it.. The car always drove so nice.. The cost of modifying it was almost nothing after I sold all the stock parts...

This. You don't miss the car, you miss the idea of it - like romanticizing anything long gone, you only remember the good stuff. But if you were actually reunited, you'd remember why you sold it.
I miss my stupid dumb Corolla - manual everything, 5 speed, baby lil 1.6 liter mill...but it woke up fast with only a little prodding. For a stupid little sedan, it was a friggin blast.

Wouldnt say I regret selling my first modified car (92 tsi awd) but it has a lot of memories. I rebuilt the motor top to bottom, removed basically everything and repainted it, built an exhaust, lots of aftermarket junk.
now my dad, he still owns his first truck, its sitting in the shop untouched for the last 20 years. 1948 IH, I love that truck and Ive never even ridden in it.
I do miss my old s13 hatch from back in the day I put Spec V seats in because comfort.
I had a mad JDM tyte RS*R ex mag catback (mid muffler and rear muffler) which gave it a good tone and fairly quiet.
Some interior lights and a badass infinity stereo, very reliable, decent MPG and had crazy torque for a 17 year old...
The first car I really dove in and messed around with is still sitting in my driveway. It still needs lots of modification, like adding some floors and solid, non-rusty body panels.

I guess I am kind of romanticizing it a bit. And Im really more worried that I will miss the opportunity to autocross/finally do an hpde rather than the car itself... the thing that makes me feel uncormfortable about autocrossing/tracking the FR-S is that I still owe on it. I've never been fond of thrashing a car I owe on simply because if I do somehow have an issue with it or something does fail, I owe on a car that I cant drive. Seems scary to me.

Yes, I wish I could have it back. And oddly enough, I still have all of the original suspension parts. If I got it back, I'd return it to stock.
I do kind of miss my 1992 Maxima GXE (auto).
It probably wasn't a fantastic car, but it was the first car I put springs on.
And I had some cheap fun with it while I was learning all about the performance side of cars.
Not that my modifications had performance benefits (except for the springs probably...and the 'sneaky pete' mini nitrous that I tinkered with :P)
But the DIY paint job, drilling holes in the trunk to mount a factory spoiler I bought on eBay, putting color changing LED's in the headlights for when the car was parked, and sticking faux carbon fiber decals to the dash panels.
It was a fun time.... before I had to get serious and care about things like camber, and tires and learning to drive stick. Hahaha.
I guess it was like being a kid. It was a whole new world, everything was exciting :D
This was before I bought my WRX in 2005, and my new BRZ.
It's almost like looking back at your youth and wishing you could sometimes go back to that frame of mind, without a care in the world.
Before the time when we knew that a front strut tower brace didn't do anything helpful for certain cars, and that a rear spoiler probably wasn't functional below very illegal speeds. Getting too smart takes some of the fun out these things :P
1962 Chevy SS convertible. Four speed, single quad 409 engine, all I ever did to it was to pay Midas to weld on a pair of dumps. Miss it every time I get into my '09 Mustang and start the engine.
The only car that I regret selling.

nope, i've still got it, still modify it more and more after owning it for 20 years, and enjoy every mile. pry the keys from my cold dead hands and such.

well I'm selling my winter beater civic instead. the previous owner said he's interested in buying it back so that will give me some extra cash and ill still get to keep my first autocross/fun car... at least for a while anyway.
