We one one. I inadvertently turned the key to power while I had the front airbag sensors disconnected and cannot get the light off. Internets sez must go to smart dealer. Disconnecting battery does not clear airbag control module. smart uses Mercedes Star diagnostics. Local Merc dealer said they can't/aren't allowed to communicate with smart/sprinter/non-merc vehicles and the closest smart dealer is 3 hours away.

Suggestions? (Useful ones... )

Not sweat it until you can get to a Smart dealer?

I'm pretty sure they will work, the light doesn't mean it's off, just that it was off at one time.

Unless you're trying to sell it, then I'm outta ideas.

Been to four so far. Almost had it but the tool was set-up for previous generation car. Still looking.

Our inspection runs out at the end of August so it will have to be off before then.

Anyone know if any Merc dealer can actually do this or are they told not to? The Merc Dealers in Canada are smart service dealers as well but the closest is still two hours away.

The guidelines may have something to do with licensing fees and policies at the local dealership. Try another dealer.

BMW dealers can work on MINI's- but many won't. Perhaps similar.

Merc dealers need to buy the Smart key for their SDS machine to work, so its authorized dealers only.

You'll need to log in to post.
