Guy doesn't have a price on it, he probably thinks rare = valuable, but sometimes rare = nobody wants it. What a cool car, though. The side glass curving up onto the roof is a neat touch. I bet it's impossible to find replacements for.
He must be posting it far and wide, I saw that on either the Dayton or Cincinnati craigslist the other day.
this is a rear barn fine it is a 58 last time it was taged was 1960 it has been sitting under a shed this car was built in Germany so far Ive not been able to fined anymore of these taking offers on the car mite trade but be real its not cheap we checked with the div they said there had only been 5 of these lis in the us
Spelling and punctuation makes my head hurt.

He made up a statistic, and I already called him on it, there are way more than 5 in the US. Victor, the guru of wartburg owns at least 5.
And OP...damn you...I was just swearing off more cars and projects. I will officially sell any vehicle I currently own for a reasonable price to raise funds for this.....sigh. 78 Colony Park anyone? 33' RV? gulp Maruader?
After sending the seller an email pointing him to more Wartburgs in the US (and information on his car to help him) As well as asking about the title and missing parts, the A100 (because I have a friend interested) and potential trades I received the following email, quoted verbatim....
mouthbreating seller said: yes they have that many in a museum there not lis and want be I wouldn't be interested in that trade and I the parts
I want that car, but not enough to deal with that level of WTF.
Oh dear god it just gets worse. I responded asking him to tell me what he was hoping to get for the car.
Captain no punctuation said: that museum and one in nas tn is interested in the car ive spent a lot of time on the computer with this car this car is on there site all ready you can go through there pics and see it I have a bid of 3800 already on this car
"That museum" is the Wartburg USA website I sent him too which is not a museum and I know the guy that runs it. And if he has a bid of $3800 he should sell now, which I politely told him. I'm done with this one for now.
Turns out the engine is missing. If only I knew where to get an engine for a 1958 Wartburg....hmmm. Now the buyer is asking me for a price....I'm pretty sure a museum just offered me $1000 for it.

Group discussion at work today concluded: redneck the body onto an S-10 chassis since Advance Auto nor Autozone had listings for Wartburg.
If it's a wartburg you're after, I can help
Divide the price by 200 to get the conversion to $$$.
(There are more wartburgs on the main page, this is just the 311s)

I had initially considered that as an option. I'll tell you right now they are visually deceptive. They are actually about the size of a VW bug and you'd need to majorly cut up an S10 frame to fit it under there, not to mention the engine wouldn't fit under the hood.
In case you are unfamiliar with my madness I found that adapting a 944 suspension in the front, VW suspension and trans axle in the rear and mating it to a Subaru 2.2 was the way to go ;)

I don't really want a 2nd one but I'd love a longroof. I actually prefer the 3 door estate to the 5 door "camping"
