correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn't selling this ad at your cost kinda defeating the purpose of us buying the ad?

Car guys are, by necessity, notorious for being bad at math.

Like Carlin's Words You Can't Say On The Radio, but with forum filters.

No, because at this point it's good to have help with the costs, and demonstrating the strength of our community is a very good message to put out right now to potential advertisers. And we'd feel weird making mad profit from this.

I think the logic would be some money is better then nothing? Id guess their banking on this not going to be a huge hit, and maybe placing 2 adds per magazine. So if that space would go unfilled in some cases, this will work as a filler.

I'm in for $50 towards that!
It would be great, I think we will have to pass the hat to everyone to get the full magazine filled with Interstellar Sledgehammer though lol
Okay. So who's going to step up and draft a proposal for the ad and post it to the community for review?
Crowd funding the ad should not be a problem. Anyone who wants to chip in can send their donation to GRM PayPal account with a standard comment in the note. Something like "GRM is the Bomb, Thank You AD"
Every few days GRM staff can post a percentage funded update to this thread. Once complete we all go out (separately) for a drink and give each other high fives.(from 6ft apart while wearing carbon filter respirators)
With all of the home remodeling we are doing i don't have much "extra" money but I would be in for $20.
Ok, here's the link to contribute to the forum ad:

I'll keep everybody posted on the progress!
I'm in. Turns out I had money sitting in PayPal that I'd forgotten about.
Can we say something about how much PAX sucks?

Paypal's reports are being screwy, but it looks like we're at about $80 so far! I'm a fan of generous rounding, which means (drumroll please) we're currently at a:

Crap, I left my laptop at work, which has access to my PayPal's e-mail address. Lemme do something about that tomorrow.
I want us to come together. All of us, come together. Let's all push for a FULL PAGE AD. To show to the people who advertise with GRM that yes, we might be "cheap" but we are totally willing to spend money for our pursuits.
Besides, it's not like we're spending any money on entry fees or tires or maintenance or anything else right now, right? I mean, heck, if rallycross season was open, this time two weeks from now I would have blown another $1000 hole in my credit card after shredding God-knows-what (probably the rearend again) so this is like motorsports participation on easy mode.
Pete, that's a good metric to reference. If you're not sure how much you'd want to put to this, whatever your typical event of choice entry cost is a good place to start. I'm sure we've all missed one we'd otherwise have put that $ to.
