And will it be so loud it drives me nuts?

It's feeding a baby stock SRT4 turbo through a Mustang air box.

I've never done it with a turbo motor but I've had a couple of race cars with NA engines and intakes similar to that (mid-engine bike motors).  Loud does not begin to describe it.  Above a certain RPM, it was very painful.  I had to wear foam earplugs under my helmet to be able to drive them.  Maybe the turbo will change the intake pulses so it isn't as bad.  I'd have some earplugs handy the first time you try to drive it just in case.

That is going to be awesome when you want to hear crazy engine noises and deeply annoying when you don't.

Not sure with the turbo, but I have a bike where fairly open intake trumpets point straight up at your face from below you. It is LOUD when you open the throttles, and because of the frequency/pulses of the noise, it can get pretty darn obnoxious. It's not like a consistent sound pressure. So maybe it would be okay because the turbo and charge air system will damp out the pulses, but I would guess it will get annoying after the novelty wears off.

I drove a Honda-powered Atom once. Intake between the seats at head level. At certain RPM ranges, my eyeballs would go out of focus. Between that and the shifter that was so vague as to be a random number generator, it was not a reassuring car to drive.

My classic Mini used to have both a single SU and a center gauge stack. It's pretty hard to package both of these as they both try to occupy the same space on the firewall. So the plate that usually resided there was deleted. That car made the most hilarious snorty noises from the gauges. It was not quiet but it was quiet enough.

I have a feeling this won't be the quietest car, but maybe I will get it driving and test this setup before I commit to it. Like Keith said the Atom 4 has a similar intake configuration and Top Gear had this to say about it:

You can play tunes with the intake as the turbo sucks and squeals, but it’s also worth keeping a set of earplugs in one of those storage areas under the nose.

Tell me, do you like going to the dentist's to listen to the soothing sounds of high speed drills?

Never driven anything that is comparable but I, personally, would find just about anywhere to pull air from rather than put it beside my head. I bought QuietComfort earbuds for my Mustang and if my 2-wheel commute was any longer I would probably look into something to quiet my helmet, since I ride with the visor up and sunglasses down. That's gonna be a lot of air moving very fastly into a very small, fast space.
