Why Don Knotts vs an actual race car driver?

who knew

btw, Don Knotts was originally a local guy from Morgantown, WV. Dunno how he made it to TV or film but good for him. Never knew he was a car guy if he even was. There is a boulevard named for him in M'town.

Looks like he's being pulled behind a car to me. You never see the whole cart in the close-up shots and you can't see the guys face in the fast action shots for a positive ID. Celeb endorsement more then cart racer, perhaps?

He was an entertainer while in the Army. He was in the movie "No Time for Sargent's" in 1958. That's where he met Andy. Then in 60, I think, he got the part for Barney.

In that McCollouch film I thought I saw a pack of cigarettes in his pocket. He had lung cancer late in life. Died in 06.

I've never heard anything about him racing. You never know though. Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) is a good driver in vintage events.

Don Knotts was also the spokesman for the 1971 Dodge Dude pickup truck.
