So.. I'm on this antique power kick... I've always been a jeep fan, especially the early ones designed for real work. I've even seen a rare old Jeep in a classic jeep only junk yard that had a backhoe and duals..

http://www.yourinter.net/dig101/index.html <--- like that.

I thought the backhoe was cool but then I found this thing..

let's note the accessories..

3 point hitch plow wheel drive PTO 2 man Hydraulic chain SAW!!!!! driven off transmission PTO hydro pump. Front end loader and bucket..

I'm in love.

That's badass. Old Jeeps are fantastic. I forget who it was, Eisenhower, or someone like that, named the Jeep one of the 4 most important technological advancements that helped us win WWII.

In no particular order:

  1. The Jeep, for easy and dependable ground transportation of troops, and supplies, that could be maintained in the field by anyone with half a brain.
  2. The DC-3 as a huge advancement in the ability to transport troops and supplies.
  3. The Bazooka, which gave ground troops the ability to effectively fight armored vehicles.
  4. The Atomic bomb, for decisively ending the whole thing.

DC-3s are pretty cool too. I got to sit in one like a month ago, its really hard to believe they are as old as they are, most of it doesnt look terribly different than a modern 737 or something, just a little bit smaller and simpler.
