Only some highlights as I have scrolled through the Book of Faces and didn't watch the "free" live feed through Cleetus.
Devin VanderHoof 6.41@212 in his convertible Fox Mustang on a 28x10 radial slick!
Alex Taylor 6.7@210(?) on the big floppy slicks under her '55 shoebox.
Jeff Lutz ran a 6.12 I know of yesterday and I think today in MadMax repainted in his signature yellow. He's gunning for a 5 sec average still.
I see Mullet, Cleetus' ElCo, just blew up a $10k lockup Turbo 400 transmission. Zinged the motor to 9500rpm....
Edit: in case someone is wondering, it's a 1.90/1.40/1.00 gear ratio turbo 400 vs a stock 2.48/1.48 unit.... much better starting line ratio with the radials and 4 link.
The Canadian stick-shift GTO is turbocharged now. Made the 3400 mile trek to Florida already. I love that car and driver.
There's a Veilside RX7 racing!!
I don't get Bailey's Durango.
Ruby set an 8.500 on day 1.
I really wish I could convince my dad and granddad to this next year. Sigh
In reply to Javelin :
Richard Guido is the crazy Canuk.
Its not said, but I think Dodge gave Bailey a body in white to build.
Dummy question: Are these 1000' or 1320' times?
I know very little about drag racing, but had a childhood full of Hot Rot magazine, and all my frame of reference is badly outdated (and probably poorly remembered) fuel and Pro Stock times from the early '80s... Just wondering how apples to oranges it is hearing about cars that are driving between events knocking multiple seconds off the Pro Stock stuff and giving ancient top fuel funny cars a pretty good run for it...
In any case, it's mind-bending how quick and fast these cars are. I'm just confused about whether modern drag racing has a consistent distance (leaving 1/8-miles out of it) and a quick attempt to search for the answer didn't give me much clarity.
In reply to Jesse Ransom :
1320. Only those in the nitro classes run that sissy 1000' crap.
Most everyone going 6's are making in excess of 2500hp@3000# or so.
I'm headed to Bradenton to watch some of the action tomorrow.
In reply to Jesse Ransom :
Last time I drove a verified fast street car (12.02 in the 1/4) those were decent 1/8 mile times! We've come a long way since 400-500 HP was only in barely street able cars!
Brett Lasala (green car) has a stroked coyote on lots of turbo boost.
Devin (white vert) has a 5xx" bbc on turbo boost. It is also for sale for a cool $250,000.
I think both use methanol on track.
Brett Lasala in the SnotRocket 2.0- 6.29@22x. Fastest radial pass period or so far.
I saw Whitaker needed welding repair on the cobras combo parachute/trailer hitch.
Vanderhoof is out due to the family dog having new onset cancer.
In reply to Ranger50 :
To think that a car like that can run in the low 6s all day, then go through the Burger King drive through later that afternoon is mind bending.
In reply to Puddy46 :
Might be a stretch but could be doable. Most stop for fuel every 100 miles, so lots of gas station roller food and snacks.
Jeff Lutz is struggling with the track prep, leftover radial prep really, only running a 7.0 after lots of basketballing the tires or tire shake.
I haven't seen but it looks like Jonathon broke an arb or something in the cobra given the 2' left front wheel lift and the right on the ground.
our own, Jonathan Whitaker:
That Porsche 928 is crazy looking (but maybe not as crazy as the hearse)!

I saw on the live feed today they have like 3200hp for the rowdy radial class, 235/60's and 1/8th mile. They ditch the belt, replace the burst panel with a throttle body, and cruise.
Been on and off with obligations...
Lasala had a good pass going until it looked like it shook the tires.
Some live feed wtf's....
Matt Lamphier's Street Race classed Miata:
Lasala is overall leader too with the 6.32.
And on hold because the Miata has "put the rods out". Sucky thing is he ran a 8.504 on that pass.
Galleries on their website if anyone is interested in more pictures. Looks like so much fun!

Some of my favs:
Lamphier has found a motor for the Miata... now to see if they can swap and make Valdosta...
I was out there today and took tons of pics, but I'm too lazy to post 'em all here. Many many cool cars, and about 90% turbocharged. A few supercharged cars, even fewer NA cars, and some just plain strange stuff (10 second Divco milk truck..)

I am. Is there a way to post a bunch of pics here without having to upload each one individually? I'm not up for that..
Thanks for the updates. Appreciate you posting them. Offhand, anybody know what numbers the Nick Latow in the Plumbers Crack van is running? This one is a 540"...i think. I know he spit the driveshaft out of it and heard he got it back together but haven't kept up past that.
Eventually I'd love to slam together a down and dirty drag n drive setup...
