We used to do “novice schools” in our region. Way cheaper than EVO, and you’ll undoubtedly be swapping seats with drivers who are faster than you.

There’s no way to know where the “bar” is until you have a good driver in the left seat. Heath Macmillen (sp) taught me more in one day than I learned in two full seasons with no instruction.

I don’t think you can overemphasize the importance of “looking ahead,” and for me, it’s still not instinctive; I have to literally yell at myself to do it.

Walking the course (and karting now,) I used to memorize a half dozen or so “points” where I should be looking, vs. memorizing “turns,” and those points aren’t necessarily cones.

When we used to autocross at Turner field, Heath taught me to look at a particular letter painted on the wall (i.e. “the last ‘r’ in ‘turner’”) vs a cone. It kept my head & eyes up and got me looking WAY ahead.

My $.02 Have fun!

The rallycross scene here (NC) is a joke.  Both the terrible administration/safety of the club that runs it, and the depth of the talent pool.

I didn't make any events this year, and I think I made it to one event two years ago at VIR (and overdrove badly), so 2015 was the last time I was remotely active. Did it get worse?

I don't know if the communication is always as bad as it has been the past year (impossible to decipher facebook page).  Also, the majority of 2018 events were canceled, so there's that...

Tracking the MotorsportsReg was always best to find the calendar for events, but the cancellations usually happen on the Club Page itself more than the other.

For anyone wanting to get better the key is focus on technique and not worry about times. If you're unfamiliar with the technique there are any number of books that will get the job done.

As for the car just get the set up to where you the car is predictable and you can focus on driving.
