Ruf is turning 30 this year, and to celebrate, they built 50 modern interpretations of the original Yellowbird.

What makes the new CTR so special? Besides the $1 million price tag, the 2645-lb. Ruf is capable of 645 horsepower and 649 lb.-ft. torque, and was built completely in-house without Porsche's help—and we drove one.

Read what it was like to drive the new, ultra-exclusive Ruf CTR over on Classic Motorsports.

I really like the SCR too.... if I ever win the lotto, I'm taking a trip to Pfaffenhausen and placing my order for one or the other.

I'm terribly jealous of Johan and, by extension, Dirk.

I saw a real Yellowbird at the last Rennsport Reunion.

The kicker: There was so much awesomeness present that the Yellowbird was just kinda parked in the corner.

I grew up watching a couple of .wmvs from some Dutch website labeled "Lap1" and "Lap2".  Like, literally, I would keep Lap1 and Lap2 on repeat while I did other things.  Or just watched.

Faszination indeed.

In other news, I have found that both a Volvo 740 Turbo and a Volvo S60R do the same "dth-wwHHHEEE" turbo noise when you depress the accelerator and the turbo takes a moment to spool up.  When I  borrowed a 740 Turbo for a while I kept accelerating and decelerating just to hear that noise.  I bought my S60R a bit over 45,000 miles ago and to this day, the boost onset noises the giant KKK turbo makes will make me giggle, because of how much I watched those videos.

So, do we prefer the 911 with or without the rain gutters?

With because it makes the 911 seem even more like a mk1 Capri.

In reply to pres589 (djronnebaum) :

Never thought of it that way.

I have room for both in my garage . . . But no such room in my bank account.
