That's a pretty cool deal. I've only seen two of these cars, but they're very impressive.

So this is essential a Tesla competitor? It's clearly not that mini-SUV electric thing.
It has turbo 3 cylinder in the back and electric motors in the front. Small range batteries. It's closer to a really bat E36 M3 crazy Chevy Volt than a tesla. And I don't think it's really trying to compete with anyone, I think it's trying to build momentum for BMW and their hybrids. Making them sexy and all, but that's pure conjecture, I haven't cared enough to research it too heavily.

Saw one drive by at lunch today. Its one of the rare cars that really looks like its from the future.
Yeah, there's one somewhere local that I've seen twice now (though not close up). Everyone nearby is staring at it....and this is an area where high-end exotics aren't exactly rare.
The i8 is one of the coolest cars currently in production as far as i'm concerned.
It does have some all-electric range and gets ~50 mpg on gas, runs 12s in the 1/4 mile and turns like a mofo (although it comes with some fairly skinny rubber).
The 3 cyl is actually the unit in the new MINI, too.
