Wait isn't the Cruze competing with the Civic not the the Fit? I thought the Cruze was a compact not a subcompact...

I do think the Cruze is one of the better looking 4-door compacts out there right now, right up there with the Elantra. I'm sure there is an easy way to get rid of the stupid bowtie.

The tire thing seems weird to me. My S2000 factory tires weren't replaced until 43K miles. And the fronts still had lots of life. I don't know that I've ever had a set of tires last <30K miles that weren't <200 treadwear (ST tires). What kind of tires do come on the Fit?

I'm really not surprised by this. You bash other makes all day long, but when it comes to you precious Honda it's a different story.

Ok seriously can some one tell me why the Fit is getting compared to the Cruze? They aren't in the same class! It should be Civic versus Cruze but the new Civic is a flaming dog turd.

Now that this topic is getting back on track; if you want to compare a Cruze to something in the same category go try a new Rio (or Rio 5). At the risk of sounding like I sell 'em (I don't) if you are making comparisons to the Fit check out a Soul.

You guys are right, the Fit and Cruze are not in the same class. The Cruze is competition for the Civic/Corolla. The Cruze also isn't competition for the Rio/Rio5, the Sonic is.

The Fit and the Soul are priced similar and are both boxy looking, but they're vastly different. Just test drove the Soul two weeks ago. It's really like a 2/3 scale minivan, where the Fit is more a tall compact sedan. They drive incredibly different.

Uh, no. The Rio is a subcompact and would line up against the Fit, Fiesta, Mazda2, and Sonic.

The KIA you're looking for is called the Forte.

{Forehead slap} Yep, you're right. I was reading Cruze but thinking Sonic.

iT's because the flaming dog turd we call the new Civic can't compare favorably, so the Hondaboi's then jump to the only "fun" car they have left, the Fit. And even then it only marginally wins.

Other the fact that both are red 4-door sedans, there's nothing in common there. Are you trying to make a point?

My point was that they look extremely similar to me, but i'm guessing that i'm wrong.

I get that they're similar in that they are both red 4-doors, but there's no actual cribbing of design details (like say the Suzuki Kizashi's grill that looks like a last-gen VW Golf, or the KIA Forte's headlights that look like a last-gen Civic, etc). The rooflines and window arrangements are different, the bodyline/door handle spacing is different, the tails are totally different, and the headlights/grill are totally different. What specifically are you seeing that makes them similar?

The way the tails show up on that profile that i showed. The way the hood hits the fenders/comes off the windshield. Same door handles. Profile extremely similar blah blah blah...

Or maybe it's my brain being unable to differentiate between mind-numbingly boring depressing commutamobiles.

Either way, doesn't bother me much that i'm the only person that thinks they're similar looking.

God thinking about it. I have no idea what I would buy in that size class. The Civic sucks, the Corolla is about the same, the Mazda 3 is incredibly stupid looking with the that grinning face. I guess the Focus would be my choice. Or the Forte but I don't know how those drive.

In the real, they look nothing alike. THe Cruze is more blockish, more squared off. The Camry... well.... it just oozes "boring" from every pore! I can see a similarity in the roofline if you squint a little and ignore everything around it. Maybe you need some glasses?

Contacts are in, thanks!

The Camry oozes boring because it's a Toyota. The Cruze oozes boring because it looks like a Toyota to me.
