Strange, I've had several DSMs and my VR4 for almost 10 years now, performed many timing belt changes and never once had a tensioner-related issue, skipped timing, teeth sheered off, balance shaft break, etc. I've flogged my car as hard as it is possible to do, so it's not exactly been babied either. Furthermore, I've never even heard of anyone else having these types of problems on any of the multiple DSM clubs/forums I'm on. There are a lot of other problems though, but the motor (at least the 6-bolts) has never been one of them.
