The Wife is looking at a set of these wheels for Gary The Jeep.  They’re on sale atTire Rack right now but she doesn’t like the blue lettering. Has anyone removed it without damaging the finish?  Some wet sanding and compound? Would I be lucky enough to peel it off?  These are the most reasonable ones she’s looked at so if they would make he happy I’d like to do it.

So close to having an answer, but so far... I have the Mini's winter tires on a set of those, but I'm perfectly happy with the lettering, so I've left them alone.

I'll try to have a peek tomorrow and see whether they give any visual indication of how removable they might be...

In reply to Wally :

The lettering is just a vinyl decal so it should peel right off. Sparco says that the wheels should ship without them installed but the bronze versions of these that I bought from the Tire rack came with the decals already applied.

Rubber wheel and a drill is all it takes to remove them. Spray on some goo gone during and after to remove the sticker glue.

I have my winter tires for the FRS mounted on a set of those. While I haven't intentionally tried to remove the lettering, I can tell you that getting sideswiped by a Subaru traveling the wrong way down a divided roadway is around 80% effective at removal - the lettering was gone, but mostly got smeared over the rest of the wheel. IIRC, that was after the wheels were mounted on the car for 4 days.

Thank you, i was hoping it was just a decal.  Of course if she gets them and sees it’s just a sticker she’s going to want them replaced with pink ones to match everything else.

In reply to Woody : Those plastic blades are great for cleaning, I’ve got them everywhere.
