Does anyone know if the 2.0l Duratec will bolt up to an IB5+ transmission out of a newer Ford Fiesta(mk6) . I've done some searching and haven't come up with a clear answer. In the UK they mention an ST150 but that was the previous generation Fiesta I think. I'm pretty sure the North American Fiestas are IB5+ gearboxes. Thanks.

Apparently the 2.0 Ecoboost shares a bellhousing pattern with the Mazda MZR, also known as a 2.0 Duratec. That might give you the info you need.

Does the 1.6 in the Fiesta share the same bellhousing pattern as the 2.0 from the Focus? They are both Duratec/MZR but the 2.0 gets stretched up to 2.3 so I don't think it is the same block as the 1.6. Even Volvo had to start at 1.8 so they could stretch it that big.

Sorry, can't help with that one. The MZR used in the Miata bottoms out at 1.8, the 1.6 is a different family.

Not sure if this really helps but it has details on the IB5 vs MTX 75 which was used in Duratecs. Also shows basically the same bell housing bolt pattern between IB5 and MTX75 at transaxle to engine. The key missing detail is whether the 1.6 Ecoboost and 1.6 engines are the same as Duratecs. That I don't know.

In reply to Keith Tanner:

So that means, hypothetically of-coarse, that the 2.0 ecoboost could bolt up in the Mazda 2?

If the Mazda2 uses the 1.8 to 2.5L MZR, yes.

Zeitgeist, the Ecoboost is an evolution of the Duratec.

It uses the 1.5 mzr-zy not the mzr-l series

I was aware the 2.0 and 2.3 Ecoboost are evolutions of Duratecs but never knew for sure the 1.6 was as well. Thanks

Might want to confirm that. I'm pretty sure it is, but it's not an engine family I deal with. I know more about the larger ones.

I asked the same question on another board and someone mentioned that the smaller stuff (<1.6) had a different bellhousing bolt pattern - don't know how true it is but I was secretly hoping they were all going to be the same.
