Automatic makes it very easy to swap a L33 from a 2wd full size chebby. The forgotten step-child of LS1 that is Dirt cheap and only makes 290hp..

Inspired, partly, by this thread, I'm going to check out an '82 528i manual on Monday.

UK lights would shine in the wrong direction, but euro lights are a fairly common upgrade. The euro bumpers require some welding on the body to make them fit but they do improve the looks. However, they've already been there, done that - there were a couple early 5 series projects in the magazine ten years ago or so.
Just so happens I'm reviving a friend's 528e after it sat awhile...
