Good afternoon fine people.
In a previous post, I commented upon terrible shifter action after a trans replacement (shop did the work) - went from early sheet metal mount to the later aluminum mount.
ALL parts that could be replaced with new were, save one - the actual shift lever/stick itself, apparently the p/n changed with the changing of shifter mounting plate (6/86 cut off date).
Has anybody experienced the need to change out the shift lever itself to keep some semblance "reasonable" shift action (i.e less than my current 3" + from side to side IN gear) when going from early to late style mounting?
If the shift lever doesn't cure, my issue would have to be in the trans itself, and that just doesn't make sense to me...
