The 85 318 would be considered the stripper E30. The 91 318 got majority of the goods from the 325i/is (sans the medium sized diff). This is were the 300lbs came from.

I've never seen soundproofing schmutz in an 85 318 like in a 325i/is or 91 318.

Not a fair comparison. A 91 318is weighs 2602. An 85 Weighs 2360.

I think it's fair comparison of E30 vs E36 in regards to weight.

The lightest 4 cyl E30 vs the lightest 4cyl E36. I purposefully left out the E36/5 (318ti) since they seem to hold there value better than a "normal" E36.

not really.. the 91 is still an E30. It put on a lot of weight between 85 and 91.

And yes.. the 318ti is holding it's value very well for a cult car that the rest of the BMW community would deem not even a BMW
