E30 wheels are E30 wheels, right? A coworker of my dads offered us his stock wheels from his 85? 325e. Those would go onto our 91 318i without a problem, correct? I do not know any more info than that; I just found out about the offer.

Right. All E30s used a 4x100 bolt pattern. And I think pretty much all of them were the same diameter and width. Weights changed a bit between styles.
Thanks Salanis!
Hopefully this means some free wheels. Which would mean that we're gonna need new tires. Which is nice, considering the car rarely see's rain, and never see's snow/mud/ice...
I don't know anything about what size wheel its off of (or even what year/model E30), but just so long as it will go onto ours without a problem, we can get new tires. We'll find out what it is, and what tires are offered in that size and the size we have, then get some new ones accordingly. Hopefully.
Yup, the iX wheels have a higher offset that won't work on the two wheel drive cars. For the most part all other factory e30 wheels were 14". There were 15"x7 BBS basketweave wheels available for the two wheel drive cars but they are pretty rare in the US - I think they only showed up on euro cars.
I had iX wheels on the back of my 318i with no spacers. looked completely natural. then 14" bbs's up front for a hot wheels look.
All E30 wheels will work provided they're not iX or M3. Depending on whether or not the car is lowered might have an effect. Here is an excerpt from an E30 wheel tech page I wrote years ago. Its going to be published again soon. Check the BEN forums for updates.
5.5x14" steel rims: offset +35mm 6x14" steel iX rims: offset +47mm 6x14" bottlecaps: offset +35mm 6.5x14" basketweaves: offset +30mm 6.5x14" basketweaves: offset +45mm for iX 7x15" basketweaves: offset +24mm 7x15" basketweaves: offset +41mm for iX 7x15: basketweaves: offset +30 for M3 7.5x16" M3 basketweaves: offset +27mm 7x15" starspokes: offset +24mm Stock BMW hub bore size = will measure it later with my new digital calipers I got for Christmas! But for now, I think its 54.1or 57.1mm Bolt pattern = 4 x 100mm M3 Bolt pattern = 5 x 120mm As you consider tires and wheels for you E30, it is important to inform you that pre-1988 cars had a larger/higher arch to the rear wheel openings. As you look through the examples below, take that into consideration. Wide tires that fit on a 1986 might rub on a 1989. The first photo is Ove's 1990 318iS. Note the lower arch compared to my 1987 325iC in the second photo. Its a very subtle difference, but pay close attention to 1) the more pronounced flare on my fenders, 2) the fact that it arches up more in reference to the body molding strip, and 3) how the top of the arch is closer to the crease above it. If I ever get two examples side by side I'll try to quantify it by measuring.
Concerning the wheelwell arches being different, I'm now told that is a myth, and seeing as how I can't provide any quantitative answers on the subject, it may or may not be true. In the case of swapping stock wheels, however, it won't matter. The concerns are only there if the wheels are aftermarket since most E30 guys shoot for closer to +20et to fill out the fenderwells

The difference in the arches is clearly visible. No myth about it. Park and early and a late car next to each other and you will see the late cars arches are lower than the early cars
