Is it possible to swap a newer neon head(1st gen DOCH) onto an early 90's NA 2.5? IIRC, at one point I was informed that it is possible, and that basically there is a lot of interchangeability on ChryCo I4s up till the current stuff.
Why yes, I plan to replace my old neon with an even older shadow/duster/sundace, and plain jane NA models are easiest to find
Yes, it physically bolts up, Bore centers and head bolt holes line up perfectly. However, the coolant/oil stuff needs to be externalized along with other necessary modifications.
Lots of info on turbomopar.net on the swap and which parts to use, etc.
Most are finding that it's easier to swap the PT Cruiser/Stratus/Neon drive trains as a unit. The drive lines mate up, etc. there's info on that as well :)

Are you feeling well??? Keeping all this old Mopar junk around is a sure sign of mental illness....

I have fond memories of a black turbo Sundance my first "real" girlfriend had.
I wish you lots of luck!
It is possible. I have an 89 2.5 with a 99 2.4 dohc head, 2.0 cams etc. Needs to be re-plumbed...
I would recommend a straight 2.4 swap. Cheaper and less complicated with more potential. 2.4 from a stratus, 2.0 cams from a dohc neon, turbo stuff from a srt4.

Yeah, i recommend the full 2.4 swap as well.
Im curious as to what your reasoning is for replacing the neon with a k-car?
I love me some k-car but it would have to be some very specific circumstances to get me to make that particular leap.
In reply to Vigo:
Not right away, but tin worm has shortened the life expectancy of my R/T. I might get 2 more years out of it If i'm lucky. Or simply, the body will not last until the engine needs another t-belt.
I like the 3 door hatch and simplicity of the Shadow. As far as the K car thing, I learned in it's big sister, an acclaim, and that thing was a DOG. I want to redeem it in some twisted way.
Other wise I think I might just be sick in the head. And it might be cheaper than pulling a full SRT4 swap into a 2nd gen caravan.
Sounds like finding the newest Shadow you can and combining it with the necessary parts from your R/T and a 2.4 bottom end will get you where you want to go.
You should buy the two southern neons I have in my driveway and the 2.4 engine I have sitting in my garage. You'd be set.

If you're doing it at all, i second this approach.
