Nope. Becuase you don't get the fuel wash over the valves to clean them off. They also cook the oil on the pistons (due to higher combustion temps) and stick the rings and then start burning the oil

 

As I've heard it, running the car hard  might not clean out large built up deposits, but should generally prevent excessive deposit formation....So the old "Italian Tuneup" still supposedly helps on DI engines, it just needs to be a part of the daily maintenance ritual.

Regular redline?  Check.  I'm already paid up on that maintenance program.  I've seen Mitch Miller say something similar about the direct injection BMWs, especially the M3s.

Anyway, let's get back to talking about these butt-kicking roadster motors.  I have a 2400# BMW with 140 RWHP, but something about that weight with 200 would be better . . . .
