Thanks to Boredom-19 I'm spending way too much time to FB Marketplace. I've been toying with the idea of an EF or EG Civic for a while just to find out what they're about after owning first and second gen CRXen before. Anyway, this "race build" popped up on my feed a little while ago and I figured I may as well check it out as the ad is completely content free as usual: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2525110387709215/

However at second glance I'm beginning to have doubts, especially about the price as based on the photos it pretty much looks like the money being mostly in a built engine and the rest is more incidental. Especially after I spotted the cage oddities and the great placement of the belts.

What does GRM think?

Has potential but needs different wheels before turning a lap in anger, no way those are staying out of the fenders unless it's running well over 1000+lb springs on a smooth track.

Other than that, there's zero details so can't really say much. I think I'd rather a stock motor car for a lower price - though beggars can't be choosers. "Built" motors is a bunch of unnecessary expense that's probably less reliable than stock. That's an LS-Vtec build, the non-vtec bottom  ends have less bottom end rigidity and a longer stroke compared to the VTEC bottom ends.

I've been playing with EFs for 20 years and have one as my current race car.   I agree with your assessment, even though there are no details of the engine itself.

Just in those few pictures there are so many things that make me question the quality of the work done anywhere.  The seat is an eBay special, the belts are so aged and sun faded to be useless and they are installed quite poorly, the roll bar is only part of a bolt in kit, which usually have really small base plates over the paper thin metal so not that safe, plus sharp edges where a door bar should be, the suspension/wheel setup has obviously never been used as the wheel is going to hit that fender, plus there is no need for that width tire on the rear, the motul and SCCA stickers and placement, the Sunpro pep boys tach in the middle of the cluster, etc.

This is not the droid you're looking for.

In reply to Sonic :

Thanks. Sounds like my spidey sense was right for once then.

The wheels don't worry me too much as I still have the Bridgestone Super Raps left over from my last Miata.
