Sounds like the signal isn't getting to the brain.

Have you called outfront? I've had oddball questions about stuff I didn't even buy from them and they always helped me
Back when I used to mess with Subarus more often bad crank position sensors were a frequent no-start culprit. Ojala is on the right track, methinks.
assuming the ej25 cps is the same as the ej20, have you tested it with a voltmeter?
