I just picked up an isue of a magazine that shall remain nameless (for the moment?) and under the changes to the 2013 Elantra, the magazine said that there will be 3 body styles for the 2013 Elantra. A 4 door sedan, a 5 door hatch/wagon? (to replace the Touring), and a 2 door coupe. Yes, a 2 door coupe. Anyone else hear about this? See any sketches or pix?
Seen it in person. The coupe gets the same interior as the 5door hatch. Been at the dealers for at least 3 weeks or so now. Maybe 4. Driven the hatch... that's a helluva car.
If they ever offer that with the 1.6 turbo from the Veloster, I might seriously consider it.

Drove it last week, along with the hatchback GT and the turbo Veloster.
Of all three... I'd take the GT. My idea of a nice daily, sharp, firm and very practical.
I would take the GT or the standard sedan over the coupe'. The Sedan is that good looking and the roof on the coupe' just does not work on that body... I got to see all three up close a couple of months ago when Hyundai came to The Borgata here in Atlantic City to show the cars off to the local dealers.. I lit them.. the GT and Sedan are MUCH better looking
I know a guy who drove the coupe, the GT and the Veloster Turbo last week as well (his name is "Me!").
Bottom line, Hyundai is an appliance company, but they are a VERY, VERY GOOD appliance company. If I were Mitsubishi or Nissan I'd be in full panick mode right now, and if I were Honda I'd be definitely taking a few extra looks over my shoulder.
And, like Leslie, I think I prefer the GT as well. Lots of things "just right" about it.

JG Pasterjak,
the same magazine that mentioned the new Elantra coupe, had a chart for PROJECTED sales of each car company doing business in the U.S. in the next year. Mitsubishi DOESN'T even expect to break into the 6 figure sales territory. Infiniti projects it will sell more cars than Mitsu. The only car compay offering "similar" products that expects to do worse in 2013 than Mitsu? Suzuki. Mitsu is again paring their model line-up for 2013, gone are the Galant and Eclipse.
