OK so here's the problem...the speedo driven gear on my AE92 is made of a harder material than the non-replaceable toothed plastic ring on the diff that drives it. Big engineering mistake. Speedo driven gears are barely worn when the ring on the diff is almost gone. I replaced it a few years ago which stopped the speedo from waving around (although it still pulsed a bit at low speedd) but it's back again and it's really getting on my nerves.
So I've been thinking, what if I can slightly increase the size of the driven gear? Maybe some sort of spray-on glue I can use to make it just a tiny bit bigger? What kind of material would stand up to the hot gear oil and friction? I might do the same thing for the Samurai which has a worn speedo driven gear and I can't find any replacements.
