Bumping a old thread - cause I am ready to bump my head into a brick wall.

2013 Mustang in Ohio. Bought it with a off road x-pipe installed (no cats). It came with the stock parts, so I reinstalled everything and put the tune back to stock.

It is failing the O2 and Hot 02. The printout says fail (4) V_READY_OXY and V_READY_HOXY.

This is after close to 600 miles of all kinds of driving. I have scoured the mustang forums, but no luck. The off road X-pipe had the O2 sensors installed downstream of where the cats would be. Can these be dirty from the dirty exhaust air that was not converted by the catalytic? The manager at the E-check said that they are not getting nonfunctioning errors, just that they are not reading ready.

Called 2 dealers close to me, one wants $75 to look at it and $75 for a tech to do the drive cycle, the other wants $97 to plug it into their computer.

Any ideas?? I had to get a 30 day plate when it failed, now that plate is about to expire.

"Not ready" means the emissions monitor hasn't run yet.

Will go into more detail later.

lol. I'm going through the same issue with the SE now. Unfortunately I've had to drop $200 or so on a new exhaust system to do the tail-pipe test. Which reminds me to stop being lazy and put it on the car. One irony is that this car has a drivers manual which details Nissans drive cycle. Something I couldn't find on the internet. Sometimes the internet is just plain useless. Which also reminds me I need to find an SE-R owners manual online.

update because I hate threads with no closure.

I emailed back and forth with the company that did my tune. he said that they disabled the rear O2 sensors to kill the check engine light when running catless.

I was trying to get this e-checked with the stock exhaust and tune, So I uploaded the aftermarket tune and drove it 100-ish miles. Passed!

I still have no clue why the thing failed, there must be something with the rear O2 sensors, but they never showed non-operable, just not ready.
