I'll sell you my 2008 Volvo C30 for $4000. Has 128k miles, I did the timing belt, plugs, accessory belts, etc at 120k miles. Only issue with it from your requirements is mine is an automatic.

It’s a bit tough to get a 5 in that price range, but it can be done toward the upper end. Sometimes people have a harder time selling the MT cars though, so they may take less than asking. It pays to be a weirdo who wants a mini-mini van with a manual trans. The MPGs are not gonna be as good as the Scion.
