Don't get me wrong, i enjoy watching racing videos where spectators hang out in places that vehicles could obviously get to just because i like the racing, but it never ceases to be stupid to see people in places like that. How about the outside of a high-speed turn coming over a crest? Why the hell not?

I would watch from somewhere like that but if something goes wrong I know I deserved it.

You're not a real man unless you can slap the car as it goes by.
(People actually did this in the Group B days in the less-developed countries. Service crews would occasionally find a finger in the side vents)
They should do what they did to F1 after Senna died. Make the tracks safer.
Problem corner? Add more runout area.
Speeds to high? Add a chicane like LeMans.
I don't think it's an insurance problem for most of the major car companies. VAG certainly can afford to pay out for damages; just look at how much they lost on each Veyrone.

Your post intrigues me, do you have a newsletter I can sign up for? (who is that?! )
Update: Looks like Pikes Peak might become the Nurburgring replacement. Being a factory test driver would become a lot more dangerous!

There would also be a greater focus on boost, electric power and power in general in supercars. If there are any more nails needed in the coffin of "purist" (NA + ICE-only) supercars, this would provide them.

Sounds like a great opportunity for one ton truck manufacturers. Hitch up a 20,000 lb trailer and run it up and down Pikes Peak until failure. Brag about result.

This. Always knew that 'greeny hell' place was too soft.
The replacement for that should be in Ware, Massachusetts. "Maple Hell"
